Nicola Di Croce & Marta Magini
Richiamo(se fosse nel silenzio che i merli si parlano)
— Performance/concert
Thursday, 3 Oct. 9 PM / C4C Hall

Richiamo is a performance-concert that shifts attention from what is seen to what is heard. The relationship between performer, sound engineer, and recording device challenges the primacy of the visual in performance, privileging the acoustic dimension: movements become audible, and ears seek out gestures transformed into sound.
In this setup, the recorder is no longer just a technical witness but a performative body actively participating in the action. The work unfolds in two parts: first, the acoustic activation of performer and recorder is captured in real time; second, the recorded material is played back in full and manipulated in a live improvisation. This double temporality – collection followed by re-reading – reveals a circular relationship between sound, gesture, and memory.
The collaboration between Marta Magini and Nicola Di Croce explores the potential of epistolary exchange as a method of artistic and performative creation. Since 2023 they have developed works such as Swinging is like saying no no and Richiamo, presented at festivals, residencies, and workshops. In 2024, the duo held residencies at Guilmi Art Project (CH), Giardino Villa Cappuccini (PG), and Spazio ZUT, Foligno (PG).
Nicola Di Croce is a sound artist and researcher investigating the connections between urban and sound studies. He is a founding member of SSH! Sound Studies Hub and adjunct professor of sound design at the Iuav University of Venice.
Marta Magini is an artist and performer interested in the rituality of the body and the relationship between productivity and non-productivity in performance. She studied Visual Arts at Iuav University and completed the MAP_PA Master’s in Performing Arts at Mattatoio (Rome).
