EMOTIONAL SUPPORT
Aya Metwalli x Emma Souharce x Beatrice Beispiel
— Live performance

EMOTIONAL SUPPORT is a noise? industrial? cabaret. Pop. We offer therapy sessions for the ears. You can cry if you want to, we won’t hear you anyway.
Emma Souharce, Beatrice Beispiel, and Aya Metwalli navigate the complexities of languages and boundaries. From Egypt to Beirut to France to Biel/Bienne. Freedom needs the unforeseen and the guts to make your move when it occurs. Imagine a trio equipped with rhythm boxes, synths, and voices, primed by a patchwork manifesto of the current people they’re reading lines, ready to crash any continental breakfast state of mind. And imagine this as an emotional kind of support. —Radio Bollwerk
Sound artist, designer and artistic director of the Copypasta Editions association, Emma Souharce investigates the notion of vertigo, working between psychoacoustics, hypnosis and catharsis. Her solo projects develop an intense form of emo-noise, oscillating between heavy electric feedback and dense rhythms.
An enigmatic and visceral vocalist, described by The Guardian as “a musical enigma,” Aya Metwalli turns pain into sound. Born in the heat and smog of Cairo – a cityscape of violent noise, from blaring car horns and broken loudspeakers to discordant prayer calls – she grew from piano and guitar into distorted, raw and haunting laments that cut to the bone.
Singer, composer and improviser, Beatrice Beispiel studied jazz at HKB Bern and now works as an independent artist in projects and ensembles including Beatrice Beispiel, Cocon Javel, Ander and Neo Latex. Her practice explores experimental and electronic music, improvisation and interdisciplinarity.
