Katarina Gryvul
— Live performance
Saturday, 4 Oct. 8 PM / Cinema Studio rooftop

Katarina Gryvul is a Ukrainian composer, violinist, and electronic music producer, classically trained yet oriented toward radically different sonic territories. Her works fuse classical rigor with experimental sound design, with timbre at the core of immersive soundscapes. In her performances, voice and acoustic instruments are filtered through live electronics, analog synthesizers, and spatial techniques, creating a sensory experience that transcends the boundary between music and physical presence.
Her album SPOMYN (which translates to ‘memory’ or ‘remembrance’ in Ukrainian) marks a defining moment in her artistic practice: each track functions as an emotional diary, an evocation of the personal losses she has endured in recent years. In a historical context marked by trauma and discontinuity, Gryvul reframes memory not just as recollection, but as a force that reshapes and rebuilds us in real time.
Her method is rooted in holophony, where all sound elements coexist equally, spatialized through binaural techniques to create the sensation of movement and presence around the listener.
Beyond her artistic work, Gryvul founded Gryvul School, an educational platform through which she shares her expertise, supporting musicians in developing their own artistic voices beyond established conventions.
