EDITIONS WEBPAGE
Theories and paradigms of the future often begin with the belief that humanity is in the midst of an extensive transformation of the world and attempt to explain the transformations and where these changes are taking us.
We live in a multifaceted world – a competitive reality with multiple points of view and social movements.
Our current state is full of ‘terms and conditions’. Moreover, social movements as expressions of different paradigms collide, often violently, in this competitive process, under the pressure of the global economic and ideological crisis.
Tension is the motivating force behind language, ideas and all mental conceptions.
In developing the theory Archaeology of Knowledge, Foucault attempted to analyse the fundamental codes, which a culture uses to develop the theory or configuration of knowledge that determines the empirical/pragmatic orders and social practices for each particular era. He adopted discontinuity as a constructive tool.
Some discourses are regular and have continuity over time, as knowledge steadily accumulates and society gradually establishes what it considers to be truth or right for the moment. But in the transition from one era to another, there will be overlaps, ruptures and discontinuities as society reconfigures its discourse to fit the present time.
Failure has become a prominent aestheticism in many artistic arenas of the late twentieth century, reminding us that our control of technology is only an illusion and revealing that digital tools are only as perfect, precise and efficient as the man who created them.
New techniques are often discovered by accident or through the failure of another technique or experiment. The aim is not only to explore the aesthetic potential of advanced methods of image making but to formulate new options of perception and artistic statement in this media revolution.
It is failure that guides evolution; perfection provides no incentive for improvement, and nothing is perfect. ― Colson Whitehead
