!t – a space for it (Bolintineanu 1, Timișoara)
Do you have ideas involving image, sound, projections, sensors, performance or space, but haven’t yet had the chance to test them? This July, you can bring them into The Interference Lab.
SIMULTAN and Electronic Resistance are launching a free intensive programme for artists, musicians, performers, designers, students and anyone interested in how technology can become part of an artwork, a performance or a spatial experience.
Throughout the workshop, participants will become familiar with TouchDesigner and Resolume, two tools that open up different but complementary paths: from interactive installations and reactive visual systems to live visuals and audiovisual performance.
We will work with tools used in interactive installations, live visuals and audiovisual performances. What interests us is how technology can be explored in relation to an idea: how to make an image react to movement, how to build a visual set, how to synchronise sound with moving image, or how to test a work in a real space.
You will have the opportunity to work with Eugen Neacșu, a new media artist with experience in interactive installations, generative systems and visual performance, together with the SIMULTAN team.
After the practical modules, participants will be able to develop ideas individually or in teams. At the end of the workshop, two proposals will receive production support of 4000 lei / work and will be presented as part of the SIMULTAN Festival 2026 programme.

Open workshop: how do we develop an interactive audiovisual installation?
The first meeting is open to everyone curious to learn more about these practices: what an interactive A/V installation can be, what live visuals are, how TouchDesigner and Resolume are used, and what kinds of projects can begin from here.
The presentation can be a first step for those who want to understand whether the workshop is a good fit for them.
__Saturday, 11 July
Introduction for participants: TouchDesigner & Resolume
A meeting for registered participants, dedicated to the two working environments of the workshop.
Participants will discover TouchDesigner and Resolume through examples and exercises. The purpose of this day is orientation: what each tool can do, what kinds of projects it can support, and how the working methods differ between interactive installations and live visuals.
__13–16 July
Practical course: TouchDesigner and interactive A/V installations
Four days of working with real-time image, sensors, live inputs, sound, movement and responsive systems.
The module offers mentoring and practical exercises for those interested in interactive installations and in the ways space, audience and technology can become part of the same construction.
__17–18 July
Practical course: Resolume Arena — live visuals
Two days dedicated to live visual composition: video mixing, layers, effects, rhythm, projection and working with image in performance, concert, club or festival contexts.
__19–24 July
Working time and development of ideas
Participants return to the exercises, test materials, document their process and begin to outline ideas for works, individually or in teams.
__24–26 July
Mentoring for work proposals
In this stage, we discuss the ideas that have emerged during the workshop, adjust them and see which of them can be developed further.
Two proposals will receive production support of 4000 lei each.
WHO IS THE CALL FOR?
The workshop is for people interested in image, sound, technology, performance, installations, space and hybrid forms of working.
You can come from visual arts, music, design, architecture, film, theatre, dance, club culture, gaming, creative coding, or from a very new interest in any of these directions.
Advanced programming experience is not required. What matters is curiosity, willingness to work practically and the availability to take part in the programme meetings.
Participants will need a compatible laptop on which they can install TouchDesigner and Resolume. All technical details will be included in the form and sent to registered participants.

Participation is free, subject to availability. Registrations will be confirmed depending on minimum technical compatibility and availability to take part in the programme.
