2026 is a year of building, connection, and dialogue.
The program brings together practitioners and theorists, new co-productions, workshops for young artists, and a publication that, for the first time, maps the festival’s history through the lens of its transdisciplinary concerns.

This year’s theme, RE:MEDIATE, reflects not only on the transformations brought about by mass media and technology, but also on how we might reframe, reconfigure, or reconcile broader aspects of our current reality.

RE:MEDIATE proposes a reflection on a process described by Bolter and Grusin, in which new media technologies transform previous forms and generate new structures of perception. The theme runs through the entire program, which brings together local and international artists and curatorial formulas that create a dialogue between sound, image, memory, and urban space.

Get familiar with the 2025 screening program of SIMULTAN Festival, presenting a curated selection of 36 experimental films and moving image works, submitted by artists from around the world, orbiting around this year’s theme Re:MEDIATE.

We are looking for submissions of innovative video narratives related to the festival topic Re:MEDIATE, produced in the last three years (2023-2025).
The call is open for emerging and established artists or groups and collectives.

The 20th edition of the festival will take place between 2-5 October 2025 in Timișoara, Romania.

Under the central theme, Desire for the Useless, 40 video and moving image works by artists from around the world commented, through visual narratives, on measurement of existence in the digital age.
