— installation/performance
— 11 SEPT – 19 SEPT / 16:00–21:00 / FB EVENT

Superposition is at the basis of quantum physics: the observable existence of any given particle is the response to one or multiple external stimuli. The very state in which a particle exists depends on how it is observed.
Affective particles is a cognitive and sensory experiment, which encourages the discovery of quantum effects transposed into the macro world: the particle becomes a human body, and external stimuli are the audience. Sabina Suru (visual artist) explores these possibilities through silver-based holography and experimental film, in collaboration with Irina Marinescu (performer), on music composed by Alexandros Raptis.
Starting from the research carried out together with Dr. Marian Zamfirescu (Head of the Center for Advanced Laser Technologies, within the National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics – INFLPR) and drd. Vlad Toma (research assistant at INFLPR), the performative installation is inspired by scientific concepts: superposition, entanglement and spin, the uncertainty principle and the anthropic principle or Hilbert spaces.
The installation present at the festival will be activated through four performances, from 18:00 and 19:30, on Saturday (September 11) and Sunday (September 12), respectively, while the holographic, video installation remains available to the public until the end of the festival, on September 19.

Affective Particles is produced by Qolony Association – The Art and Science Colony, a cultural organization from Bucharest (RO), which functions as a generator of links between art, science and technology, through events and projects such as artistic residencies, exhibitions, conferences, artist / scientist talks , research and artistic production.
The National Institute for Laser, Plasma and Radiation Physics (INFLPR) and the Center for Advanced Laser Technologies (CETAL) carry out fundamental and applied research activities in the field of lasers, light interaction with matter, plasma and electron accelerators. More information here.
