Based on the Simultan Media Archive<\/a> (with over 800 titles \/ works, developed following the 16 editions of SIMULTAN festival), five master students of the Faculty of Arts and Design in Timi\u0219oara, coordinated by Maria Oro\u0219an-Telea, made curated selections, guided by personal theoretical interests, but also by the dynamics of the online archive and the countless possibilities of association between existing video materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The video projection of these selections will take place at Comenduirea Garnizoanei, Pia\u021ba Libert\u0103\u021bii 5, Timi\u0219oara and online starting with the day following the presentation of each selection on https:\/\/archive.simultan.org.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

SIMULTAN [media archive] proposes the (re)creation of an online database, a digital archive based on the selected video works in the 16 editions of Simultan Festival, but also of other documentary materials (video and audio) from 2005 until present.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The selected materials, beyond their artistic value, become important from a socio-cultural, political and anthropological point of view, illustrating both the realities and topics specific to the period in which they were created, and also how the artistic environment understood them and related to them.
Through curated, conceptualized and systematized selections, the archive can be used as an educational and \/ or research tool. Designed with modules for filtering and creating your own lists of works, it can be useful in developing new curatorial or editorial projects.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The term “archive” can define different things: a verb, a noun, and a storage strategy. In recent decades, theorists such as Jaques Derrida and Michel Foucault have expanded the political and social significance of the archive. As a result, our idea of \u200b\u200bthe archive has changed from a more traditional notion when we refer to archives (we perceive it as a collection of records and the location in which they are kept). With its shattered neutrality, the idea of \u200b\u200bthe archive is to build and support cultural memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
