As part of the project Rediscovering Music: Sound and Creative Experimentation, which explores alternative sound cultures in Romania before 1989 and through the transition to the early 2000s, we propose a semi-formal discussion of what “experimental” could mean in Timișoara: making music that does not conform to expectations or imposed rules. We will also consider, somewhat utopically, a para-academic field we might call Sound Studies.
