DIANA MIRON (voice/violin), LAURENȚIU COȚAC (double bass) and SIAN BRIE (electric guitar, clarinet) are musicians with contrasting backgrounds, reflected in the sounds they create live.
For Diana Miron and Laurențiu Coțac, exploring sounds shaped by ever-changing techniques and developing new vocal and instrumental material is a constant part of their work. Their practice is rooted in extensive musical training and encounters with avant-garde musicians with whom they have worked and still collaborate: Mircea Tiberian, Iancu Dumitrescu, Charo Calvo, Stefan Fraunberger, Rabih Beaini and Blixa Bargeld, among others. Their projects include soundtrack composition and sound design for theatre and film, vocal coaching, workshops and performative installations.
Romanian avant-garde guitarist Sian Brie first collaborated with Diana Miron in free jazz and contemporary classical music, with pianist Mircea Tiberian; in And Then This with Daniel Stanciu (electronics); and in Umami with Mark Sanders, Dawid Frydryk, John Edwards and others.
In their own projects, Diana Miron, Laurențiu Coțac and Sian Brie process sound in an acousmatic direction, concealing its source while maintaining clarity even in abstract passages through sound collage and layered textures.
Strongly influenced by jazz's freedom of expression and rhythmic complexity, the three use spontaneous composition to offer an expansive, contemporary musical space. Seeking an experience of sound intrinsic to the music, sometimes harsh or dry sounds and spontaneous harmonies invite the listener into a musical deconstruction: an intuitive, structured discourse continually engaged with the living present.
