Celine Trouillet [fr]
- Song No3, 3:30, 2004
Words and instrumental version of “Le sud” by
Nino Ferrer, voice of Daniel Michel.
A profoundly deaf young man forces himself to pronounce with
difficulty the words of a popular French hit. He hears neither
his voice nor the accompanying instrumental music. In three
minutes the combat that all disabilities represent is magisterially
delivered. The movement of his lips might give us the impression
that he has appropriated the sonorous and environmental context
in which he is situated. An intense emotion is produced in
the face of the evidence of the disability and the struggle
with a surprising ordeal of language.
