Andreas Zingerle [a]
- Extension of Human sight, 3:08, 2008
A short sequenz is taken from the documentary “The story
of Television” (produced 1956 by RCA). In the 1920’s,
David Sarnoff (Chairman of the board of RCA) and Dr. Vladimir
Zworykin (Vice President of RCA (Hon.), Techn. Consultant
of RCA) started dreaming on mass production of broadcasting
moving images by electronic devices. The sequenz is looped
and the audiovisiual quality decreases constantly due to the
fact of a lossy data compression. Artifacts like peculiar
effect, bleeding, ringing, pre-echo, drop-outs, warbling,
or graininess can be observed.
Dialogues (English):
David Sarnoff: We succeeded in extending human sight far beyond
the horizon.
Vladimir Zworykin: Yes, this is wonderful thing about television.
The extension of our sight.

Andreas Zingerle &
Jona Hoier [a] - Wild West Reloaded, 1:15, 2007
„Wild West Reloaded“ is an ironic movie about
the image of american history that media presents to the public.
The genocide and disappropriation of the native Americans
are compared to the war in Iraq. The original uncutted audio
of a CNN broadcast is mixed with images of a classic John
Ford Western movie.
Original film: "She wore a yellow ribbon", John
Ford (1949)
Audio: CNN News (8.Sept 2004 "A miserable milestone reached
in iraq")
