CHRISTOPHER CASSIDY [USA] – Augury, 05:00, 2007

Since 2003, I have been developing a series of short video works entitled Augury. Long-duration footage of a fixed portion of sky directly overhead captures fleeting glimpses of birds in flight. To distill the hidden patterns that develop over time, I collapse the individual frames of the footage, allowing each frame to remain, superimposed on succeeding ones. The resulting video reveals dashed and dotted lines composed of bird silhouettes, spiraling across the frame in surprising arabesques.

CHRISTOPHER CASSIDY
[USA] – Isthmus of Kansas, 03:01, 2007

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Isthmus of Kansas envisions a time in the future when, due to global sea-level rise, North America’s two great oceans have risen to cover the land and are separated by only a narrow ribbon of beach. The footage for this short video was captured from the California and South Carolina coasts.
