Shot with super 8 film and then transferred to digital, this piece is an examination of chair caning—a type of labour that is becoming infrequently practiced. Time consuming and detail oriented, one must work for hours with their hands, creating a woven pattern and showing a dedication to their task.

A JACOB GALLE
Born and raised on a sheep farm in Maine , much of my art practice incorporates aspects of agriculture and manual labour as a reflection of my upbringing. Upon graduating from Vermont College with an MFA in Visual Art in 2005 I have been travelling to different artist-in-residence programs in America , continually examining aspects of rural life and working conditions. My practice takes form in performative video, super 8mm films, installations, audio projects, and photography.
