The Headphone Festival is an Gathering of Music Enthusiasts, Musicians, Designers and Listeners who wants to enjoy the Music over Headphones. The Roots of this Idea comes from a group of people from Paris, France. Due the heavy loudness restrictions in the french Capital they wanna to be able to listen to loud music.. and they invented the so called “Placard” Festival. This is more than 10 years ago. This Idea spread over the world. Since 2003 the label privatelektro decided to make an own Headphone Festival in Leipzig based on the idea of the placard Festival. The first Festivals are so called virtual Festivals for the public and a strong theme was the streaming of the music played on the Fest over Internet. The Last Festival, we did intended some modifications. We used small Radio Transmitters and streamed the whole live Event inside a defined Room.
The physical location was more important and the social component of the meeting with musicians and listeners. While the whole time of the concert the audience was able to listen over 3 different ways: over Radios, or Mobil Phones with integrated Radio, the provided Sound-Islands who you will be able to plug into a Headphone-Amplifier (who get the signal direct from the main mixer) and of course trough mini-radios with mini earplugs, we provided at the Festival.
This Years Headphone Festival will result in an Festival Compilation of some of the best concerts, to be released after the Headphone Festival through the privatelektro label.

Proiectul celor trei muzicieni combina actul performativ cu comunicarea emotiva, prin tehnici intrumentale.
Improvizatiile lor au la baza muzica clasica moderna, idm, minimalism, sunetul electroacustic care capata forme noi prin fuziune, folosindu-le ca raspuns spontan catre celalalt muzician.
Jerry Wigens, a inceput sa improvizeze la workshopurile lui John Stevens; de atunci a cantat in diverse formule cu diferiti muzicieni, membru al Astrakan si Tetras.
Oli Mayne, a participat mai multe evenimente si festivaluri de muzica improvizativa in Anglia, printre care ‘Freedom of the city’. Proiectele lui colaborative au fost lansate de Glitterhouse, Rise Above, si Aural Terrains.
Thanos Chrysakis este compozitor si artist vizual; el foloseste diferite intrumente electronice. Preocuparile lui muzicale se directioneaza catre muzica electronica, instrumentala si instalatii de sunet ambientale. A participat la diferite evenimente ca CYNETart - Dresda, BETA:Composition, Sound, Technology and Beyond - Liverpool, Live Algorithms in Music - London, Artpool P60 Gallery - Budapest.

O noua serie de evenimente dedicate proiectelor sonore experimentale si abstracte, sub forma de live performance si auditie.
* Evenimentele sonore nu sunt percepute doar de urechi, stimuleaza si alte organe senzoriale. Vibratiile acustice sunt percepute constient, insa ele pot provoca reactii psihologice la nivelul subconstientului. A asculta si intelege muzica sau sunetul este un proces estetic complex. Interpretarea a ceea ce auzim este o activitate culturala speculativa; evaluam sunetul dupa origine, ritmul, tonalitatea, armonia sau dezacordul, pauzele create. La un alt nivel este experienta psihica si emotionala, o perceptie senzoriala a corpului. * termenul ’schizophonia’ (in greaca schizo = a separa) este folosit pentru prima data de compozitorul si teoreticianul R. Murray si se refera la dezintegrarea sunetului de sursa sa originala si reproducerea sau transmiterea lui prin mijloace electroacustice. * Prin originea sa, orice sunet era original, mai tarziu devenind specific mecanismului care il produce.
S-a dovedit faptul ca, psihic, ar fi imposibil ca natura sa reproduca acelasi fonem de doua ori intr-o maniera exacta, ele pot fi asemanatoare, dar niciodata identice.
Dupa inventia echipamentelor electroacustice si a diferitelor forme de stocare, sunetul a devenit independent de obiectele lumii materiale si este posibila reproducerea si difuzarea lui in intreaga lume.
‘Temporary Tactics’ Simultan Festival 2008 - DVD release
The 4th edition of the festival runs under the theme ‘Temporary Tactics’, exploring a conflict situation, a difficult cohabitation between the independent audio-visual works and the cultural, social and political context in which they are born. ‘Temporary Tactics’ wishes to highlight time and space connected ‘speculative’ situations, the practice of acting and reacting, of making and creating, in the moment and in response to the stimulus of one’s immediate environment.
The ‘Temporary Tactics’ compilation contains 32 video works fom the festival, which offers a view on experimentation, on the diverse attitudes in capturing, perceiving and remixing reality and re-defining this reality through the interaction between visual and auditive.
*errata/ Anders Weberg’s video ‘Undisclosed Beauty’ can be seen here with sound, due to an authoring error the video is without sound on the DVD.
